Other Issues

09 May 08 09:07Mainframe Access
**UPDATE**
ALL access to the mainframe and UNM MVS will be permanently restricted on May 31, 2008. Beginning May 31, all data, access, applications, and jobs associated with the mainframe will be permanently unavailable. There will be no way to recover or restore mainframe data, access, etc, after that point.

Starting May 31, the technical team will begin the process of physically retiring the mainframe, including:
  • Unplugging equipment
  • Powering off equipment
  • Erasing disks
  • Erasing tapes
  • Packaging for shipping

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please contact the ITS Support Center with questions or concerns.

ORIGINAL POSTING:
Beginning Monday, 3/17/08, all user access to the mainframe and UNM/MVS will be discontinued, with the exception of HRS. HRS access will be discontinued on Monday, 3/31/08. Applications that will no longer be available include:

BRS FAM FRS HRS
SIS STUSYS ZSSDISPATCH
TSO IDMS30 IDMS40 MAC
IBMNEWS BRSTEST FAMTEST FRSTEST
HRSTEST SISTEST STUTEST ZSSTEST
TSOX IDMS30T IDMS20

Restricting access to the mainframe is part of the OS390 Sunset project. UNM has replaced the mainframe with the Banner ERP system, and the OS390 Sunset project's main objective is successful retirement of the mainframe. Retiring the mainframe is necessary because mainframe applications are no longer being updated and mainframe resources (staff, money, etc) need to be committed to our new production system.

The above deadlines are very firm dates. If you believe that your access to these systems should be extended, please contact the ITS Support Center (http://fastinfo.unm.edu or 277-4848).
09 May 08 08:32Banner Time-Out Issue
**Update** 5/10/08
After extensive research and checking configuration files, it has been determined that the timeout is acting according to the current configuration settings. Unfortunately, Internet Native Banner (INB) does not reset your window, or even close it, when the timeout has occurred. The only thing a user can do is close all windows relating to INB and then open a new window and start the login process again.

**Update** 4/30/08
All timeout parameters on the Application Servers were increased to 2 hours April 12, 2008. Other server settings are still being investigated. Please let ITS Support (277-4848/fastinfo.unm.edu) know if you continue to experience issues.

Original Posting
Multiple users across campus have noticed Banner timing out beginning in late March - early April. Our Banner technicians have been notified, and are working on a high-priority ticket to find a solution to this issue. Please check back here, as updates will be posted as they become available.

General Information

09 May 08 08:51Password Issues for Budget Users
We have discovered that the special character # cannot be used in passwords in the new budget module. We are working on correcting the netID password documentation and application. In the interim, if you are a user of the Banenr budget or salary planner modules, and you encounter authentication or password issues, please verify whether your password contains a #. If so, please change the password so that it no longer contains a # (you may do this by substituting it with a number or the special character _). Go to Net ID Maintenance Page to perform the password change.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check back here for updates.
